Hi! Welcome to EMERGE! That's a good question you asked, and I won't be crazy enough to answer it in one sitting. ^_^
I'll focus on your main point: how to live with Christ. I hope this will make sense, but do you remember Galatians 2:20? "Christ lives in me." It's not about how I live with Him, it's about growing in awareness of how HE LIVES IN ME! I have stopped trying, and have simply started to focus on what the Bible says Jesus has accomplished.
Because of His death on the cross, my sins are forgiven. ALL of them! So when I fall, I don't need to beat myself up for "not knowing better," I just look to the cross and say, "You've paid for this sin, too. Thank You!" and move on.
I also know that He has paid for everyone else's sin, so that now when I talk to people, I've learned to treat them as forgiven people. I don't have to waste energy on wishing I can get even. I try my best to make people I talk to become more aware of their forgivenness, and you know what? I see their faces transform right before my eyes! There is nothing so healing as knowing you are forgiven, not just because God loves you, but because Jesus has paid for the sin. God no longer has a reason to judge you because Jesus has already taken that judgment, punishment, penalty.
And His resurrection is proof that the sacrifice was accepted by God's Holy Justice. So now He is IMMANUEL. God with us. GOD WITH US! It's not about how closely I can walk with Him, it's about all that He's done so He can be with me.
And when I live by this truth, everything falls into place. All your questions that you asked here, that's all the answer I found. Christ lives in me, and so I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me (Gal.2:20NLT).
Joseph Prince, author of Destined to Reign, says that the root of our problems is condemnation, caused by the seed of unbelief: we don't believe we have been totally forgiven because our sins have been totally punished on the body of Christ on the cross. I agree. Someone else said that man's greatest need is forgiveness, so God sent a Savior.
