MANY local congregations around the globe never mention any thing about or recognize any responsibility for the advancement of global evangelization/world missions. This is happening in both poor and rich church congregations worldwide. The act of reaching 'the uttermost parts of the earth' is being relagated to someone else, somewhere else. It has been said that if every local body of believers worldwide today would give just a small (yet consistent and deliberate) percentage of their annual receipts to focus on global evangelization (beyond their own communities), there would be more than enough to fund a massive missionary force who could carry the message of Christ in action and in Word to the entire world in a single generation.
What are your thoughts on this?
How are you helping to advance the Gospel 'beyond your own community' and to the world?
As a pastor or other church leader, how have you been able to effectively challenge and involve your church and spiritual community to action in this regard?
Do you believe this should be a priority today? If so, why? If not, why?
