Strangely, one of the earliest detailed prophecies of the Messiah came through Balaam, the prophet who was rebuked by his donkey. When Balak was attempting to get Balaam to curse Israel, the wayward prophet uttered these words instead:
And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days. And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: He hat…

Dake was very conservative in his approach to Scripture, often defending against various liberal attacks. The following notes, from pp. 82 and 51 of The Dake Annotated Reference Bible, express Dake's view of the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch (Genesis through Deuteronomy).
Two Objections to Mosaic Authorship (Ex. 17:14)
1. That the arts of writing and literary composition weren't sufficiently advanced to produce the Pentateuch in Moses' day. This objection is unreasonable in view of the fa…

Included in the Palestinian Covenant is a vital principle of Scripture:
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
All blessings and curses of Scripture are based on obedience and…

Biblical Types (Ex. 38:21)
The Bible is not as full of types as some would have us believe-that is, types that can be proved by Scripture. Some make nearly every person and event of the O.T. typical. Such a method of intepretation leads to confusion and a wrong understanding of the Word of God. Searching for hidden meaning in every passage and pressing the typical teaching so far imperils the literal teachings and soundness of many biblical truths.
Everything in Scripture intended as a divine ty…

We tend to recall the ten commandments in an abbreviated form. As a result, we often forget some of the additional things God said. Consider this commandment against graven images:
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon…

As the generation of Israelites born in the wilderness was preparing to enter the promised land, Moses gives them a prophetic warning sprinkled with promises:
When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon u…

Before entering the promised land, Israel received plenty of warnings about what the outcome would be if they rebelled against God. Consider this potent verse:
And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. (Deuteronomy 28:63)
The Dake Annotated Reference Bible expounds at length on the theol…

Christianity claims to be a revealed religion. The record of that revelation is contained in the Sacred Scriptures. Note the following points:
1. REASONS MAN CAN EXPECT A REVELATION FROM GOD. Man's intellectual and moral nature requires a revelation from God. Such will help him preserve and insure the moral and spiritual progress he needs to attain and the higher nature that he cannot hope to reach unaided. There is within man's moral makeup an intuition, a reason, and a hunger for the supernat…

1. The Bible is not an amulet, a charm, a fetish, or a thing that will work wonders by its very presence without any voluntary agency. The Bible does not claim to be any such thing. It does claim that if one will study and practice it, it will work wonders in the life now and hereafter. It will not benefit a man by its presence any more than a spring of cool water to a thirsty man in the desert will benefit him if he refuses to drink.
2 The Bible is not a book of chronological events or one unb…

1. BIBLE. This word designates the collection of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments that are recognized and used by the Christian churches who follow the religion of Jesus Christ.
The word Bible is not found in the English versions of Scripture. It is the equivalent of the Greek word biblia, meaning books. The phrase ta biblia, meaning "the books," occurs in Dan. 9:2 of the Septuagint for the prophetic writings. This usage for the Old Testament passed into the Christian Church, and in…

THE TRUE STORY OF A MAGNIFICENT GIFT
by Finis J. Dake
I rejected Christianity in my youth, until I found some believers who lived the life they professed. Faced with truth backed by Christian example, I knew I had to make a decision. After weeks of struggling with my conscience, I chose to serve God the rest of my life and do His will, whatever it may be. I had the witness of the Spirit with my spirit that I was a child of God, the blood of Christ having cleansed me from all unrighteousness. I…

SIMILAR TO MEN
The Bible reveals that angels have a three-part nature consisting of a body, soul and spirit, and all the faculties associated with each. They are similar to men in this respect, as Scripture abundantly proves. They wield swords and wage physical combat. They can be bound by chains and confined to material places. They ride horses, drive chariots, guard gates, and do many other things, as we shall see when we study their works in the last chapter. Angels also have feelings, passio…

The Bible is God's inspired revelation of the origin and destiny of all things. It is the power of God unto eternal salvation and it is the source of present help for body, soul, and spirit (Rom. 1:16; John l5:7). It is God's will and testament to men in all ages, revealing the plan of God for man here and now and in the next life. It is the record of God's dealings with man; past, present, and future. It contains God's message of eternal salvation to all who believe in Christ and of eternal dam…

On Saturday, November 13, 1999, at 8:20am,. the Lord gave the following word to Prophet Jonathan Hansen regarding the Philippines:
“Philippines, oh Philippines, why have you rejected me so mightily. Why have you fought me and my people?
You believe you have God. You believe you serve God, but what you have is a form of God - a religion that takes the place of Jesus Christ, and comes in his name. Christianity is not bringing idols into the church and neither is it bringing sorcery and the relig…

The royal PRISONER
Trying to be safe, its so warm here
trying to be cool, I'm so undone
I feel thesame, ad things have never change,
im still here.............
chorus
Oh Raynald your still a prisoner,
inside your self-made prison.
staring behind grills of lust you enjoy,
set him free....
The doors are never locked, not even the
windows, its just you've grown too big
to go out of that room, things might have change
if you did change.
(repeat chorus)

It's been over a month and I'm glad that people are trying to recover from the nightmare that was Ondoy. I may not experience the trauma of some people I know or the tragedy of what people experienced, but all of us wre affected. I draw inspiration from Nehemiah's words, "Let us rise up and build." I also parallel our Ondoy experience to a scene in Rocky 2 where 2 equals Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed were exchanging punches but both weren't able to knocked each other out till both got tired and…

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"For we walk by faith, not by sight" -II Corinthians 5:7, NKJV
TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Are you walking by faith or sight today? In other words, are you choosing to believe God no matter what your circumstances look like, or are you making decisions and focusing your mind on what you can see.
As believers, we have to remember that we aren't just subject to this natural realm–what we can see, hear, touch, and smell. No, we have access to the unseen, supernatural…

How To Get Rid Of Bad Habits Now!
Discover What You Really Need
By Bo Sanchez
Do you have a hidden addiction that is stealing your life away?
Have you heard of the great Houdini?
As a young boy, I loved reading about him. Houdini was probably the most famous escape artist in the world. I’m not sure if the story I’m about to tell you is part legend and part history, but I find it utterly fascinating.
Houdini boasted he could escape any jail cell in less than an hour. One day, a…
